People are reading all these posts about stripers now adays and we Mainers just can’t help it!! I went fishing with Jeremy and Patm today and had a blast. Jeremy and I started fishing way up river, chucking clousers into deep pools. Jeremy got one fish and that was about it. Pat shows up and we are completly puzzled. It is high tide, which usually means that the fish would be pushed up river, but they just weren’t there!
I made a suggestion and said that maybe we should try fishing way downstream at the mouth. So, we hop in the car and start making our way to the flats. We just couldn’t make it out there, it was high tide and we could not make it out. So Jeremy says, “geez, you lead us the wrong way, we would be nailing em’ on the other side!” So I say prove it, and it took a little time to get Jeremy up on his feet again to walk across the intercoastal. He’s getting old ya know.
Well so we walk up the hill and get ready to run. Cars are buzzing past us, and I must say Pat can run pretty fast! That was dangerous, but we made it! We all walk down the rock wall and start casting into know where. Strp strip strip thump! “That was a fish” I said. I make another cast and fish on!!! From then on it was striper after striper after striper. They were small but fat and we all had a great time. Just another day fishing with Jeremy and Pat, thanks again
Fisherboy….I am sure you have heard the saying, “That grass is not always greener on the other side.”………………….
Just remember though….in fly fishing…and in life….sometimes IT IS!
Jeremy,
He thinks you are getting old…. Hahaha…..Must be fun having to run in trafic with waders on.
fisherboy, thanks to the compliment on my running speed. Not bad for a OLD MAN huh! and thanks for not mentioning that the fish after fish, strike after strike did not apply to me. I enjoy fishing with you, your enthusiasm for the sport is refreshing for us old folks. Hope we can do it again.
Nice work guys. I am very envious and wish i could shoot up there before my keys trip. I don’t think it is going to happen though. I’m thinking Labor Dayish or before.
