When you can’t find fishable water and the urge to feel something tug on you, beside your conscience, change species. The next part of the equation is to find someone who looks for fish like a drowning man looks for air, Jeremy. Take the guy with you who sold you your truck, in case of breakdowns, and you have your bases covered. Jeremy, Pat-m. Tom-k and I were fly fishing a river that I have easily crossed thousands of times, seen fish rolling and wondered how to get to it. Well Pat-m and Jeremy knew and we all caught Stripers.
I caught 2 and the second was a decent spring fish caught below some nice water falls that I had never seen before. I couldn’t believe I had never fished that river and I was living a short distance from it as a kid. You can’t judge a river from the overpass.
hey greg…that was a blast… a first for me too… i had ventured up river before but never to those sections. it was awesome fly fishing for stripers in trout/salmon type waters. raging water falls and eddies and all the typical trout/salmon stuff…but with schools of bait being chased by the hungry stripers…a wild experience really…lots of fun and a nice break from the typical flats fishing or even ledge fishing in maine or surf fishing on the open ocean beaches.. i really enjoyed that and will definately be going back…especially since it is walking distance from my new house…who knows, may an atlantic salmon will take my fly…they are in there for sure…
speaking of atlantic salmon….when are you headed up to Gaspe? Got room for me?
Looks like a blast. I would love fish for them in a river!
