Hey everyone, let me begin by saying that I have done alot of thinking this weekend while I was on the river with my dad. I thought about how beautiful the water was and I thought about what a “Passion” really was. Hopefully some of you can relate. I came up with what I thought passion was. “When you do something you love throughout your life and every time you do it you put that day in your heart so you have it forever.” We won’t always be here to fly fish. But now, let me tell you about my day on the N. Platte, in Wyoming, with my dad and a 4wt. fly rod.It was Saturday. The first Saturday I have had free in a while, and I knew exactly what I was going to do. My dad and I needed to go fly fishing and it was a good day to do it. Slightly overcast and sprinkling rain. We threw our gear in and spead off. On the way I was thinking of exactly how I was going to fly fish this time, but of course when we began fishing I forgot it. We were fly fishing opposite sides of the river. It was cloud, sun, cloud, sun. When the sun came out you could see strait to the bottom, and when it was cloudy it all disapeared. For some reason one of those times the sun came out I wondered if there was fly fishing in heaven. Dont know why but I did. I said to myself, “if there isn’t fly fishing in heaven I ain’t going.” I giggled and kept fly fishing. I couldn’t see my dad so I walk over and he had fallen asleep on some rocks. Hopefully he was atleast dreaming of catching fish cuz I wasn’t. When he woke up he said he had got snagged and didnt want to re-rig. So he passed out. I decided to change my flies and put on 3 size 22 midges. B.I.N.G.O, that was it! 4 wt, good rainbow, 6x tippet, perfect. Life was good. Well we got it to the net and snaped a picture then let him go to be caught another day. As he swam away I thought to myself, “I bet he hopes there isn’t fishing in heaven.” We had a great day and I will never forget it. I think we all do some of the most important thinking while we are on the river. When we do, we know life must be good because we have a passion for fly fishing.

Great story, I agree with your definition of passion. Fly Fishing is the only real passion I have and I like it that way.
