Wednesday morning I had some time to do a little fly fishing. I decided to spend the three hours of time fly fishing on one of my favorite flats in the French West Indies. I was not using a flats boat and I was fly fishing on foot. The French West Indies has a variety of exciting salt water fish species such as Tarpon, Bonefish, Jack Cravelle, Permit and many others. The water is warm and crystal clear and the beaches and coral reefs are picture perfect. All in all, a very nice fly fishing location. I decided to spend my time targeting Bonefish and Permit. I rigged up my rod and reel and made my way onto the flat. What a day it was. I caught two Permit and three Bonefish in just three hours. I was especially happy about the permit. Two Permit in one session! Granted, the permit in the picture is on the smaller side but there were bigger ones cruising the flat and I missed some 10 to 15 pound permit. So, thanks for letting me share my excitement with all of you. I am eager for the sun to rise tomorrow. God only knows if it will be the same tomorrow, but even if it is not I still know what is possible. The French West Indies, what a magnificent place.
