I made it up to the Fly Fishing Only Fly Shop this weekend to go to the famous “tie and lie” event. I was immediatly greeted by all my friends up there and we were off to work. Fly Fishermen were tying everything from grocery pollocks for stripers to woven body stoneflys for the big browns that are in the area. People from all around the state came to share their effective paterns with all of us. What more could you possibly ask for? Good friends, good tales, and some sweet looking flies. We need more days like this, they keep us occupied through the winter and make it go by much faster. It was a lot of fun making some new friends and being able to tie beside some of the states best tyers. A specialthanks to Mike and Linda Holt for putting together such a great day. 27 more days till April 1st!
fisherboy – it’s kinda funny to see you hanging out with all the older guys up at fly fishing only. all of the stuff you are learning and absorbing is really valuable stuff. it’s amazing to see how well you can tie and how knowledgable you are when it comes to fly fishing. there are not many fly fisherman who were doing the things and learning the things that you are learning at such an early age. as you get older and spread your wings and venture to distant fly fishing lands – all of these things that you are learning will prove to be very valuable. i can’t wait to see the kind of things you are doing and the places you are going and the fish you are catching when your in your 20’s. i am sure your future will be filled with wild fly fishing stories from coast to coast and around the globe.
ps – feel free to tie me up some flies in your spare time. olive wooly buggers and prince nymphs:)
Howdy!
And i’ll be sure to bring the video camera with me! Thanks for the complimets. Tight lines
