Fly fishing with Captain Mike Malary!Captain Mike is one of the only sport fishing guides in the Naples Florida area .Mike runs a 27’ Contender w/twin 225 Yamahas. This boat is set up to run 60+ mph with plenty of room to fly cast. My wife and I started out 7:00am at Lovers Key Boat ramp South Fort Myers Beach. 1st stop 4 miles to the bait. We stop on a buoy two cast with the throw net and we have a bait well full of “chummers” (Small scaled sardines). Off we go in search of shrimp boats on the hook after a night catch. The shrimp boats crews cull there catch in the morning wile at anchor. This is the perfect place for the gulf fish to pick up a free meal. Capt. Mike places us off the stern of a local “ shrimper” tossing chunners in the water and not long boils of Bonita and Black…Fin Tuna even a 150+/- lemmon shark are in casting distance. I toss my 10 wt with sinking line into the chum slick count to 40-60 and fast strip 1st cast bang!!! 10lb +/- Bonita. I’ve fishes all over but these 10 lb fish make a bonefish feel like a blue gill. I landed the fish when I here my wife “ I got one” Not a Bonita but a 28 lb Black Fin Tuna. With in second she was “down to the sock” ( bare spool showing) Mike rushes to the helm to start the boat when Judy starts to make ground. 20 or so minutes later we have Dinner on board! We kept casting and hooking fish. This trip was like an ESPN show! Fish busting, beautiful day light breeze and great equipment. Thanks Capt. Mike.See ya fly fishing some ware Joe-m To contact Capt.
