Wow! I would have never expected to see so many beautiful things in 2007, or my entire lifetime for that matter. I had the privilege of fly fishing with so many fly fishermen from fliesandfins.com. I will never forget chasing albies and bluefin tuna with Jeremy, Greg, Pat, Waterwhippa, Kranefly, Boz, Alex, Ed, Mark and so many others. Fly fishing trips such as chasing bluefin tuna in my home state of Maine, and fly fishing some of the most beautiful and world renowned trout waters in the world in Wyoming and Utah will never leave my memories. But, I would say that the best part of my fly fishing season was living through other peoples fliesandfins.com fishtales and video’s! A huge thank you to all of the people who contribute and make fliesandfins.com so much more than just another fly fishing website. It is amazing to think that fliesandfins.com started with just 2 people, Greg and Jeremy, and was nothing more than a simple little blog.Just as I say that one season is over, I am reminded by what this next season can bring! Being too spoiled in 2007 with great fish, I remember that their are so many other species of fish to catch that I have never caught such as tarpon, bluefin tuna, skipjack tuna, marlin, snook, jack crevalle, delaware brown trout, bonefish, permit … and the list goes on and on and I am constantly reminded about how special and fruitful the world we live in really is! I can only hope that 2008 will be as good as 2007 was. So, when Jeremy asked me if I wanted to make the fliesandfins.com year end video … I made no hesitations and got to work. I got to relive so many great fly fishing trips in the process of sorting through gigabytes upon gigabytes of digital media. It was amazing to relive the 2007 tuna season, fly fishing for springtime landlocked salmon in Maine, the red hot steelhead of western New York and so much more. I hope that all of you have a great year in 2008, and I look forward to “fly fishing” with you on fliesandfins.com through your fishtales, pictures and videos in 2008.

totally stellar. Content is killer and editing was fantastic. I was just waiting for that reel to start smoking in the opening sequence. I know i have made a few bonds with fly fisherman over the past few years that are directly correlated to this site and will last a lifetime. it is such a privelege to have these trips chronicled on video and available 24/7. Shout out to Jer and Greg for the platform. So looking forward to 2008! I need to go fishing know.
Great job Austin, Sweet to look back on the past, can’t wait for the future!!
austin – fantastic work! don’t know what else to say really, other than you constantly amaze me with your ability to pick up things and become very good at them in very short time … from fly tying, to fly fishing to video editing to guitar etc… … you are one of those rare kinds of people who just “gets it” .. and it doesn’t matter what “it” is … channel those skills in all that you do throughout your senior year in high school, throughout college and in whatever career you choose … i have no doubt, if you apply the same kind of focus and dedication to anything else that you have applied to fly tying, fly fishing and video catpturing and production … you will, no doubt, be successful at whatever you do in life … keep setting high standards and goals for yourself and don’t ever settle for mediocrity in anything you do …..
once again, amazing work this season, in so many ways! … 2008 is gonna be even better … just think of the species of fish that were on your hit list last year and you put in the time and got it done … i am certain by the end of 2008 1 oe 2 more species will be crossed off your wish list! great work austin.
Nice work Austin! 2007 was such a great fishing season for me and i look forward to what 2008 brings. it was incredible to meet and fish with everyone here and i enjoy reading and watching each and every story. the tales on flies and fins bring you to the water as if you were a part of it. Keep up the good work Austin. -Ed
That video shows a real talent and a true love for the sport. Next year your going with me and leave Jeremy at home. !!!
Awesome Job Austin!! The anticipation for this video was apparent and it was worth the wait!
One of these days i’ll hook up with you main guys whether it’s up here or down there or even better both places!
thanks whip! you have been a true fishing pal, and i think the fliesandfins crew would be much less without you and your boys. i can’t wait to see what 2008 brings our crew. SO, go fishing! catch a big dog, and post a fishtale for me please!
thanks shaq! it is amazing to think that we have not fished together throughout the years, but till we do, i look forward to living through your fishtales…..
thanks so much jeremy! you are and have really been a huge mentor to me…from flyfishing to guitar to web work to life skills! i look forward to what 2008 brings to us…..hopefully we can knock a few off the list!
Ed! thanks for so many great memories this season. I will never forget those albie days. i’m sure we will fish together again soon, probaly sooner than later!
Alright greg, but if i go with you, you are not only going to show me your honey holes in maine, but also in canada! I’ve got my passport ready…..
Kodiak, thanks for the great comments! i have to make it down to your edge of the world someday, but what makes this site so awsome is that your there right now! and i can live through your fishtales till then. c-ya!
Wow, that was absolutely incredible! I want to go fishing really, really badly right now.
Austin well done. I hope 08 treats you so well.
Great job Austin, I can only imagine the amount of content that you had to sift through to finish this video. You did great. Good luck in 2008 hopefully you can make it out my way to harass these trout. If not I’ll catch ya on the other side. “life is short but sweet for certain” again great work and the best of luck this year in school and your fly fishing future.

Nice vid Austin.
Seems like you had a fantastic fishing year. Looking forward to seeing how your 08 went 😉
Great job Austin. You definitely captured how great the Bonito and Albie fishing was last year. Hope 2008 is a repeat of that.
ausin, it was great to fish with you as well. i’m tying lots of big flatwings for us to fish in surf this year. so lets check off more species this year and crush more hardtails. i just love the opening shot! -Ed
sweet! I love those flatwings that you tie….i will tie you up a bunch of those surf candies for the albies/bonito!
ya right …. at the end of the day .. that opening shot .. and that sound of the line just peeling off the reel … has a large part to do with why i love fly fishing ….. there is just something unexplainable about the sound a fly reel makes when a big fish is tearing line off of it …. totally different than a spin rod .. don’t know why … but when i first hooked a “big’ saltwater fish on the fly and my reel made that sound .. i instantly said to myself, “i really like this” .. and since then, never put down the fly rod …..
ps.. that tibor has a sweeeeeeeeeeeet sound too! .. it sounds dumb and probably is, but alot of guys judge a reel on it’s ability to do this or that or whatever .. and for me .. the SOUND a reel makes when a fish is taking line, is a HUGE selling factor for me .. a reel with no sound is very dissapointing for me, kind of like going to a concert and not being able to hear anything because the amplifiers were busted …..
thanks for the complements! so rhody what i hear about you is that you love the hard tails and saltwater fly fishing…..are you coming to maine for college? would like to fish with you someday.
And to you as well wrh….hopefully we will meet up on the water in this upcoming year!
its a great reel but its never been the same after that day
joey mac hope the west is treating you the best. i’m sure we will cross paths in 2008. i would love to fish for those giant trout in the colorado tailwaters someday…
thanks! i hope you also have a great season, and i think its so cool that fliesandfins.com is not only based on fishing inside of the united states! gool luck this season!
thanks chris! you would have loved the 2007 tuna season….it was just amazing. we really got dialed in this year. i hope to fish with you this year!
Yeah, I live for Hardtails! I get a rush just thinking about them. There’s something about staring at the water for 3 or 4 hours, or more, ccompletely focused, and having all pandemonium break loose all of a sudden that’s just amazing.
Yeah, I’m coming to Maine for college. I’ll be at Maine Maritime up in Castine. I’d like to hook up sometime, either in Rhody or or up in Maine.
Austin
Well done.
This will be playing on my pc often the next few frozen months…
2007 was another killer year on the water with many new species for alot of the fliesandfins folks. Can’t wait to see
what this year will bring to hand and to the homepage.
Time to fill the arsenal…gimme a buzz when you want to spin some feathers on hooks.

Way to go Austin! That video really makes my heart race! Nice job. What a truly amazing and varied sport and to have an outlet like Flies and Fins to share stories ( even those of fish lost ) and to give and receive advice is absolutely fantastic. The people posting here seem to have a sincere love not only for landing fish but for enjoying the sport on every level from conservation to peace of mind to the grueling feats of athleticism sometimes required to hook that fish. Awesome. Let’s hope 08 is even better than 07! Tight lines, all. I’d love to wet a line with ANY of you any time.
The hits just keep coming great vid. I was hoping to see the burger toss!!
thanks boz! we really need to tie some up…i’m way behind.
i know that we will fish together more than ever this year! really looking forward to maine thawing out…..

Austin, What an awesome reflection of an angler’s year of fishing. There’s a clip of you tossing an Albie back in the sea and it is the best release I’ve ever seen on tape. It was perfect dude! Look forward to fishing with you sometime.
Sweet video.
Austin,
In my opinion that video is one of the finest anywhere on the web. Nice work!
sick video; great work austin. screaming reels make the 9 hour days in my cubicle a little more difficult… ha
-jesse
